Mobile Response and Stabilization Services via NJ Children’s System of Care (PerformCare) are available to New Jersey families 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for children and youth facing emotional or behavioral crises. These services aim to de-escalate immediate crises, ensure the safety of both the children and their families, and enable the children to remain in their current living arrangements. Prevent Suicide NJ (PSNJ) is a comprehensive suicide prevention resource in New Jersey that collaborates with various organizations, schools, and families to reduce suicide rates, remove the stigma surrounding suicide, and support those affected by it. It is aimed at all New Jersey residents, including healthcare providers, educators, suicide prevention experts, parents, youth, and suicide loss survivors. PSNJ is maintained by the New Jersey Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics and funded by the NJ Department of Health.
Crisis Text Line provides a free, 24/7 texting service for individuals experiencing crisis. The service ensures that every texter is connected with a trained crisis counselor, who is a real-life human being capable of utilizing active listening and collaborative problem-solving techniques to assist texters in transitioning from a state of crisis to a state of calm. The text line can be accessed from any location within the United States.
2NDFLOOR is a confidential and anonymous helpline for New Jersey’s youth and young adults. We are here to help you find solutions to the problems that you face at home, at school or at play.
Starting from March 6, 2023, the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline LGBTQ+ pilot line is available 24/7 through text, online chat, and phone by pressing “3”. Callers can indicate their interest in LGBTQ+-affirming counseling by texting Q or indicating it in the pre-chat survey. This is part of an ongoing effort to improve access to crisis care for marginalized populations at higher risk of suicide.
NJ Hopeline’s mission is to provide support, assessment and, if needed, intervention in the most cooperative and least restrictive manner to New Jersey residents in emotional distress and suicidal crisis.
